REFINY'S PARTICIPATION IN THE ANNUAL IP & INNOVATION RESEARCHERS ASIA CONFERENCE (IPIRA)

REFINY Law Firm participated in the 6th Annual IP & Innovation Researchers Asia Conference (IPIRA), a prestigious international event organized by the Network of Intellectual Property and Innovation Researchers in the Asian region. Co-organized with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the World Trade Organization (WTO), this conference serves as a vital platform for fostering discussions on intellectual property, innovation, and their impact on global economies.

This year's conference, held on January 18th and 19th at the Foreign Trade University in Vietnam, marked a significant milestone as it was the first time the event took place in the country. With insightful presentations and engaging discussions spanning over two days, the conference provided a comprehensive overview of current trends and challenges in intellectual property and innovation.

The opening address by Mr. Nguyen Van Bay, Deputy Director of the Intellectual Property Office, Ministry of Science and Technology, set the tone for the event. Mr. Bay provided valuable insights into Vietnam's intellectual property system and proposed policy options aimed at fostering innovation and creativity. These initiatives are expected to propel Vietnam's intellectual property landscape forward, aligning it with global standards and contributing to the nation's socio-economic development.

The conference featured a total of 36 presentations, with delegates sharing the findings of 164 research papers from experts representing WIPO and WTO. These presentations delved into various themes such as "Building Capacities and Knowledge Transfer at WIPO" and "Reassessing the Relationship between Trade, Development, and the Current Intellectual Property System." The discussions facilitated profound exchanges on trade issues, sustainable development, innovation, intellectual property, and economic cycles.

During the event, REFINY paid special attention to the presentation titled "Commitments on Intellectual Property in the European Union - Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) and Recommendations for Vietnamese Companies" delivered by experts from the Foreign Trade University. This presentation highlighted the significant adjustments to Vietnamese legislation required to realize Intellectual Property commitments under the EVFTA and offered strategic solutions for businesses looking to capitalize on opportunities in the EU market.

The conference also featured a robust rebuttal section, where panelists, including leading intellectual property scholars from Asia, offered insightful perspectives and raised challenging questions to refine proposed solutions and offer alternative viewpoints.
